CryoPen delivers a fine jet of nitrous oxide at minus eighty-nine degrees, precisely into the lesion — for the warts and verrucae that pharmacy treatments have failed to shift.

Why over-the-counter treatments stall

Salicylic acid and home freeze kits treat the surface. A wart is a viral infection of the skin with a blood supply of its own, and unless the treatment reaches the base of it the lesion regenerates. Verrucae on the sole are worse again, because pressure drives them inward and thickened skin blocks anything applied on top.

What CryoPen does differently

The device releases nitrous oxide through an aperture the width of a pinhead, giving a controlled jet at minus eighty-nine degrees. That precision means the cold reaches depth without spreading laterally into healthy tissue — which is what makes it accurate enough for a wart on a finger and strong enough for a verruca under pressure.

The appointment

Each lesion takes seconds to a few seconds per freeze cycle, with the whole appointment usually under twenty minutes. No anaesthetic, no cutting, no dressing to manage afterwards. It stings sharply during the freeze and for a minute after, then settles.

How many sessions

  • Small warts often clear in one or two treatments
  • Verrucae on the sole typically need two to four, spaced two to three weeks apart
  • Long-standing or clustered lesions take longer and we will say so at consultation

Afterwards

The area reddens and may blister within a day — that is the expected response and not a complication. A scab forms and separates over one to three weeks, taking the lesion with it. Keep it dry for forty-eight hours, do not pick it, and let it lift on its own.

Before you book

Any lesion that is changing, bleeding, growing quickly or that you are not certain about is assessed before anything is treated. If it does not look like a wart we do not freeze it — we will tell you to see your GP, and if useful we can assess it with a dermatoscope first.

Prices

Verrucae generally need two to four sessions; we will estimate at consultation. See the full price list.

Your questions

Frequently asked questions

How many sessions will I need?

Small warts often clear in one or two. Verrucae on the sole usually take two to four, spaced two to three weeks apart, because pressure and thickened skin make them more stubborn.

Does it hurt?

A sharp sting during the freeze, lasting seconds, and some throbbing for a few minutes afterwards. No anaesthetic is needed and most people manage several lesions in one sitting.

Will it scar?

Scarring is uncommon because the freeze is precise and shallow relative to cutting. Temporary lightening of the skin at the site can occur, particularly on darker skin tones.

What if it is not a wart?

We assess before we treat. Anything that is changing, bleeding or uncertain is not frozen — we will refer you to your GP instead.
