Definition, not volume for its own sake

Most people who come in asking for lip filler do not want bigger lips. They want the shape they used to have: a defined border, a Cupid's bow that reads, corners that do not turn down, and enough body that lipstick does not vanish into fine lines.

That is what 0.5ml usually achieves. A full millilitre suits lips that have lost real volume, or where a client genuinely wants more. Rachel will say which she thinks you need, and will decline to place more than she believes suits your face.

The hydrating lip booster

A different product and a different job. The booster puts hydration into the lip tissue without adding structure — the result is softer, smoother, better-quality lip rather than a changed shape. It suits people who want nothing obvious, and it is often the right first step.

Consultation and the day itself

Every lip appointment starts with a consultation, and no filler is placed at a first consultation. Treatment takes about an hour with numbing cream. A fine needle or cannula is used, depending on your anatomy and what is being corrected.

Swelling and settling

Lips swell — that is normal and it is not the result. Expect significant swelling for forty-eight hours, most of it gone by day four, and the true shape at two weeks. Bruising is possible. Do not book a fortnight before a wedding.

It is reversible

Hyaluronic acid filler can be dissolved with hyaluronidase if you dislike the result, if it migrates, or if you simply want it gone. Knowing that should take most of the fear out of the decision.

Your questions

Frequently asked questions

How long does lip filler last?

Typically six to twelve months, depending on the product, the amount and your metabolism. Lips move constantly, so they break filler down faster than most areas.

How much swelling is normal?

A lot, for the first forty-eight hours. Most settles by day four and the final shape is there at two weeks. Bruising happens and is not a complication.

Can filler be dissolved?

Yes. Hyaluronidase dissolves hyaluronic acid filler, whether it has migrated, sits unevenly or you simply want it gone. We offer elective dissolving at £195.

Will it look obvious?

Not at 0.5ml placed well. If you want an obvious result we will discuss it honestly, and if we think it will not suit your face we will say so.
