What filler actually corrects

Faces do not simply wrinkle as they age; they deflate and descend. Fat pads in the midface shrink, the jawline softens, the chin loses projection and skin that used to be supported starts to fold. Filler placed at the structural points — cheek, chin, jaw — restores support, and the folds lower down often improve without being touched.

Chasing individual lines with filler, rather than treating the reason they formed, is how faces end up looking worked on. We would rather treat two areas properly than six areas lightly.

The areas we treat

• Cheek — midface volume and definition, 1ml or 2ml
• Chin — projection and profile balance
• Jaw — definition along the jawline, 1ml or 2ml
• Tear trough — under-eye hollowing, for the right candidate
• Marionette, perioral and nasolabial — the lines around the mouth

Tear troughs need care

Under-eye filler is the most rewarding area when it suits someone and the most obvious when it does not. Thin skin, fluid retention and true hollowing behave differently. Where the tear trough is not right for filler, polynucleotides frequently are, and we will tell you that instead of taking the booking.

Consultation, then treatment

Assessment first, always, with treatment on a later date. Appointments run about an hour, numbing cream is used, and a cannula is preferred in the riskier areas. Swelling and occasional bruising settle over a week to ten days, with the final result at two to four weeks.

Reversible

Everything we place is hyaluronic acid and can be dissolved. That is a deliberate choice: permanent fillers are not.
