Collagen induction · MorpethMicroneedling in Morpeth, Northumberland

Controlled micro-injury that makes the skin rebuild itself — the most reliable treatment we have for acne scarring, enlarged pores and crepey texture.

Treatment room at Skin & Co Morpeth

How it works

A sterile cartridge of very fine needles creates thousands of microscopic channels in the skin at a controlled depth. Each one is a small, deliberate injury, and the skin's response to it is the point: fibroblasts activate, new collagen and elastin are laid down, and over the following weeks the texture of the skin is physically rebuilt.

It is not a resurfacing treatment that removes the top layer. The epidermis stays intact, which is why recovery is short and why it is safe on darker skin tones where some lasers are not.

What it treats well

  • Acne scarring — rolling and boxcar scars in particular
  • Enlarged pores
  • Crepey texture and fine lines
  • Stretch marks
  • Overall skin quality and firmness

The course matters

One session gives a glow. Three to six, spaced four weeks apart, change the skin. For scarring we would usually recommend six; for texture and general quality, three. Face, face and neck, and face, neck and décolleté are priced separately, and we will tell you honestly how many you are likely to need before you book.

Depth and comfort

Needle depth is set to the area and to what is being treated — deeper for scarring on the cheeks, shallower around the eyes. Numbing cream is applied for thirty minutes first and most clients describe it as a strong vibration rather than pain.

Afterwards

Expect to look like you have caught the sun for twenty-four to forty-eight hours, occasionally with a light sandpapery feel for a few days. No makeup for twenty-four hours, no active ingredients for five days, and daily SPF without exception. Results build over four to six weeks and keep improving across the course.

Combining it

Microneedling sits well with Dermalux LED immediately afterwards, which calms the inflammatory response and speeds healing. For scarring we often run it alongside polynucleotides.

Your questions

Frequently asked questions

How many sessions do I need?

Three for texture and general skin quality; six is more realistic for acne scarring. Sessions are four weeks apart.

Does it hurt?

Numbing cream is applied for thirty minutes first. Most clients describe a strong vibrating sensation rather than pain, and the deeper areas are the only ones that sting.

How long is the downtime?

Redness like mild sunburn for twenty-four to forty-eight hours. No makeup for a day, no acids or retinol for five days, and SPF daily.

Is it safe on darker skin?

Yes. Because the epidermis is not removed, microneedling carries a much lower risk of post-inflammatory pigmentation than ablative resurfacing, which is one of the reasons we use it so widely.
