Dermalux LED light therapy at Skin & Co Morpeth

Why Dermalux

LED is only as good as the device delivering it. Dermalux is a medical CE-marked system with clinically validated wavelengths and irradiance — which is what separates it from the LED masks sold for home use, where the output is a fraction of what is needed to reach the tissue.

The three wavelengths

  • Blue 415nm — antibacterial, targets the bacteria involved in acne
  • Red 633nm — anti-inflammatory, stimulates fibroblasts and collagen
  • Near-infrared 830nm — penetrates deepest, accelerates healing and calms redness

Most protocols combine them. The light is absorbed by the cells and increases their energy production, which is why the same treatment helps such different-looking problems: inflammation, healing and collagen are all cellular processes.

Who it suits

Active acne, rosacea and persistent redness, sensitised or compromised skin, and anyone who wants to improve skin quality with absolutely nothing invasive. It is also safe throughout pregnancy, which matters when most of the effective options are not.

As an add-on

Adding twenty minutes of LED after microneedling, a peel or a laser session noticeably reduces the redness and shortens the recovery. At £25 alongside another treatment it is the single best-value thing on the menu, and Jessica adds it as standard to anything that provokes an inflammatory response.

The session

Twenty minutes lying under the panel with eye protection on. No heat, no contact, no sensation beyond warmth. You can apply makeup and go straight back to work. A course of six over three weeks gives the clearest result, particularly for acne and rosacea.

Your questions

Frequently asked questions

Is LED safe in pregnancy?

Yes. Dermalux LED is one of very few treatments we can offer throughout pregnancy, which makes it useful when hormonal breakouts appear and the usual options are off the table.

How many sessions will I need?

A course of six over two to three weeks for acne or rosacea, then maintenance. As an add-on to another treatment, every session helps.

Does it feel like anything?

Warmth, and nothing else. Nothing touches the skin, there is no downtime, and you can wear makeup straight afterwards.

Is it better than an LED mask at home?

Considerably. Home masks deliver a fraction of the irradiance of a medical device, which is what determines whether the light reaches the tissue at a useful dose.
