IPL · MorpethRosacea & Redness Treatment in Morpeth, Northumberland
Diffuse redness, flushing and broken capillaries respond well to IPL. A course of three, delivered by an aesthetics nurse, with the triggers and the homecare dealt with alongside.

Why redness responds to light
Rosacea shows as background redness across the cheeks and nose, episodes of flushing, and — over time — visible broken capillaries. Intense pulsed light is absorbed by the haemoglobin in those vessels, heating and closing them so the body clears them away. The background tone calms and the flushing usually becomes less frequent and less fierce.
IPL will not cure rosacea. It is a long-term condition and nothing switches it off permanently. What a course does is reset the visible picture substantially, and give you a much better baseline to maintain.
Assessment first
Rebecca, our laser and light nurse, assesses the pattern of redness, your skin type and your triggers before anything is scheduled. Some presentations are better served by prescription-grade homecare first, or alongside. Papulopustular rosacea with active spots may need medical input before light treatment is appropriate, and we will say so.
The treatment itself
Cool gel, protective eyewear, and a series of pulses across the treated area. Most people describe a warm flick, like a light elastic band. Cheeks and nose take around fifteen minutes, a full face about thirty. You will look flushed for a few hours and occasionally into the next day.
Course and maintenance
Three sessions spaced around four weeks apart is the standard course, and the course price is a meaningful saving on singles. Many clients then come back once or twice a year to hold the result.
What you do between sessions matters
Daily broad-spectrum SPF is not optional with rosacea. Beyond that we will usually put you on a calming AlumierMD routine — a gentle cleanser, a redness-targeted serum and a barrier moisturiser — because treating the vessels while continuing to strip the barrier gets you nowhere.

Your questions
Frequently asked questions
Can IPL cure rosacea?
No. Rosacea is a long-term condition and nothing available cures it. IPL substantially reduces the visible redness and broken capillaries, and most people find flushing becomes less frequent. Maintenance sessions hold the result.
How many sessions will I need?
Three, around four weeks apart, is the standard course. Stubborn or long-standing redness sometimes needs more, which we would discuss at your review rather than sell upfront.
Is there any downtime?
You will be flushed for a few hours, sometimes into the next day. Makeup can usually go on the following morning. Avoid saunas, hot workouts and sun exposure for forty-eight hours.
Will I need a patch test?
Yes, at least forty-eight hours before a first treatment. It is a short appointment and it is not negotiable.
